Beginners Guide to Selling Information Products

Did you go to Andrew Reynolds Bootcamp this October or did you get the chance to go last year? If you have recently watched any of Andrews seminars then you will probably be really keen to get started in shaping your future and fortune selling information products.

I was really dazzled when I attended an Internet Marketing Seminar a few years ago. To be honest it awoken the possibility inside me that financial freedom could be a possibility in my life. If you are anything like me you will be willing to at least give the ideas and opportunities a chance to blossom.

I personally found the hardest obstacle to overcome was not the technical or copywriting skills, but finding the good products to sell. Technical and writing skills can be outsourced on websites like elance or rentacoder

The thought may have crossed your mind to create your own product, which is sometimes a great idea. This however can be risky as you have to be sure that 6 months of product development is going to be worth while. Other questions you might ask yourself are Will it be a product that people will buy? and Is the market already filled with products similar to your own?

The better alternative is to find products that have already been created and are targeted towards a hungry market. Therefore it is best to establish a target market first and then find the products to satisfy your potential customer needs.

After establishing your niche market, go on the internet and hunt out products, which would be of good value to your customers. Once you have found a handful that would be suitable, order them yourself.

When they arrive you should on your own intuition be able to see, which the best products are. I then suggest you contact the owners and ask if they would be interested in selling you the resale rights or at the very least a joint venture.

Depending on the outcome of your conversations, you may decide to role with the product, create a new product better based on your findings or go back and search out a new market.

Once you have a product to sell, setup a mini website. Mini websites are typically 2 to 3 page websites which contain a sales, payment and thank you page. FREE templates can be downloaded from the web and customised. If you are good with Adobe Photoshop then create your own banners and images else outsource these tasks. Do not attempt to create banners or images if you are no good, as you will damage your marketing efforts.

Sometimes it is hard to gauge whether the product is good and also whether it is likely to sell. The reason I say this is because there are so many products available and so much competition. Before you spend time marketing your product via email, direct mail, affiliates etc. I suggest you create a PPC campaign on Google. This is a cheaper and instant way to see if your website can sell your product.

Choose the keywords you think your product best suites and pay highly for each keyword. This will enable you to drive lots of traffic to your website selling your item and then you can workout your conversion.

The conversion rate is based on how many visitors to how many buyers. Usually with a product below 50GBP you should expect 2% to 4% of buyers for 1,000 visitors. I always use this as a basis even though I may loose sixty quid in a few days. PPC allows me a preview to see if my product will sell once placed in front of many more customers.

Selling information products are no doubt the best business to be in and when it works, it works really well. Keep in mind that the more benefit a product to a customer, the more valuable it will be. Therefore I suggest you explore markets that greatly benefit a customer rather than satisfy a simple want. Benefits sell products and are also the basis for a good website sales letter.
